Freeport Conservation Trust is a non-profit organization operated by Freeport volunteers. We are dedicated to protecting those special places that we all know and love, for ourselves and for future generations.

Since 1977, the Trust has protected over 36 properties, totaling more than 1019 acres of Freeport land, including significant farmland, shorefront and woodlands.

Our goal is to preserve critical open space and wildlife habitat through local community involvement. The most common tool used by landowners to preserve their land is a conservation easement. By granting an easement, one can maintain ownership of his or her property but limit or direct the future use of the land. Easements are flexible and can be tailored to individual needs. An easement can keep land forever wild, allow for timber management, or permit specified limited use or development. Freeport Conservation Trust ensures that the terms of these easements are enforced in the future.
